Story
At St Peters we are very passionate about sport and take great pride in the facilities that we offer to our students and the wider community. Our current all weather surface is 15 years old and our field space becomes unusable for a large proportion of the winter due to being water logged. This impacts on the quality of our teaching and learning and the facilities we can offer both to our students and for hire to the local community.
The governors of the school commissioned Notts sports to solve these problems in 2016. Over the last 10 months we have worked with Notts sports to plan the resurfacing of our current Hockey specific all weather surface and design and build a brand new 3G FIFA and world rugby compliant surface for football and rugby.
The vision behind this project is to provide the school community with sports pitches that can be used all year round by the students of St Peters from year 7-13, enhancing their overall learning experience .
The new facility will also create a community sports hub in the south of the city that is a sustainable base offering state of the art facilities to local sports clubs to develop youth and adult sport in the city of Gloucester. These facilities will be available to hire weekday evenings and all weekend. We are aiming to develop long term partnerships with local sports clubs, that we can feed our students into so they will benefit from the new facilities after school hours.
This fund raising appeal will provide the start up capital for the project to build a brand new 3 G pitch at St Peters and to resurface the current all weather pitch. The total cost of the project will be up to £600k. Financing arrangements are in place for the long term delivery of the project but the school requires an up front investment in order to kick start the programme of works. The first £20k will enable the project to begin and the remaining finance to be released. Your investment will provide the catalyst for the project.
