Story

Her daughter was stolen from her. Now they're reunited. But they need help to start afresh.

I just lost my heart. I thought I was being choked. That I couldn’t survive. Sometimes when I think of it, I think I’ll never forgive this man. For the first time my feeling as a mother gave me a very powerful feeling.

These are the words of Goli, a refugee who was heartbroken when she learnt her daughter, Bru, had been taken away from her. Bru left her mother's arms in the dead of night, without knowing where she was going and why she was leaving her mother behind. Their story becomes unthinkable when Bru believed her mother was dead as she grew up. Both didn't see each other for five years.

Thanks to the efforts of Rob Lawrie, Goli is now reunited with Bru. And Bru is reunited with her younger sister, Baran who she didn't even know existed.

Now they are stuck with no home of their own and no place they can settle down in. All funds raised will go towards helping Goli, Bru and Baran start out their new life as one united family. They need money to travel weekly between the UK and the continent as the slow process of reintegration into each other's lives begins.

The search to find Bru is told in a new BBC podcast, Girl Taken. You can listen to Goli's story of her reunion with Bru here: bit.ly/girltaken
