Story
Two of our beautiful pedigree cats were killed on the road outside our house last year, both by speeding cars - we were devastated. Every time we walk our dogs around our local area, we come across drivers exceeding 30mph, sometimes by a lot. I motion to them to ‘slow down’ but with no effect.
I therefore decided to do something about these cars, vans and motorbikes driving at speeds of over 30 mph in residential roads, some of which even look like 40mph – 50mph! So I thought of starting a campaign, which I call 'Stick to 30'. I discussed this idea with Alison Hernandez who is the Police Commissioner for Devon & Cornwall. She was very enthusiastic and has promised the support of the Police.
Recently I read this heartbreaking message from a lady in Torquay:
“Thank you to the driver who sped up the road earlier and hit my beautiful black cat. You left him lying in the road, bleeding, broken jaw, both eyes popped out of their sockets and unable to breathe properly. You didn’t notify anyone, you just left him there in AGONY and scared. I hope you rot in hell.”
The poor little cat was still alive when they got him to the vet – the only thing they could do was to put him to sleep.
Having a beloved pet killed is bad enough, but how long will it be until this story is about a child, a senior citizen, or disabled person, or even a whole family?
Neither the Police, nor the Local Authority has any spare funds to do anything permanent to solve this problem.
I am raising funds here to pay for signs, posters, printing etc., all of which will be needed to develop a very high profile anti-speeding campaign in the worst affected streets/roads in our neighbourhoods. We will work closely with local residents and the police.
Please donate whatever you can. Thank you.

I live on Marldon rd and have found 2 cats killed and left on my grass verge. No-one mentions the poor lad that was killed by a taxi on this road, I hoped that would be enough.
