Story
I was diagnosed with stage four cancer on 4 March (2019), having had no suggestion of cancer prior to that date.
Over the course of the following weeks, this turned out to be kidney cancer, which, until today, would be treatable using inhibitors. I have today learned that I cannot have that treatment because of a serious liver problem. This means I and my family are at the mercy of luck and whatever short time I have.
My previous life span was expected at six to 12 months. Now time could be a lot shorter. As the main bread-winner in the family, I want to provide for my loved ones - asking only those I know and love to contribute.
If I, and my family, have touched your life in any positive way and you wish to help, however small, I would welcome your contribution. This would help to ease the burden when the time comes.

6 years agoAfter an aborted attempt to stay in a hotel for a couple of nights, where I ended up hospitalised for four days, with breathing discomfort, we have decided to put travel plans on hold and stay at home. Because I can't start the actual cancer treatment, we can only now manage symptoms for a while. I struggle to get comfortable on my back, and don't get a full night's sleep, which is exhausting. #stillfighting

6 years agoThe prognosis effort continues. Erratic behaviour in my liver prevents the oncology team from giving me the autoimmune drug (Cabozantinib) that they were planning to give me. I had a CT scan to try to ascertain whether this is caused by cancer spread in the liver or whether it is a blood flow issue. The CT was inconclusive, so now we are going to try an MRI and, perhaps, a biopsy on the liver. We need the liver to work before we pump more chemicals into it.
