    Story

My amazing dad Steven Tinsley the backbone to our family needs our help now more than ever.

Not sure where to start to explain the journey he has been through and continues to go through every day with this horrible disease. It has now come to a point where the only treatment option available is immunotherapy to try and keep him here with us for as long as possible, to see his grandchildren grow up, because this above anything else is what he so desperately wants and deserves.

In true Steve Tinsley fighting spirit he wants to give this new treatment his all but as always this comes at a cost. This is why i have set up this page to help fund what is going to cost us £4000 per month. Unfotunately due to my dads case and its complexity he is not willingly offered it on the NHS and it will take months for his oncologist to apply for funding and all the necessary boxes to be ticked before a green light can be given, if at all. So we need to fast track this process and go private because unfortunately my dad doesnt have the time to wait. So if you can help at all big or little we as a family would be so greatful. I am going to write a little about my dads journey so far, thank you xx

It all started in 2011 when he was diagnosed with bowel cancer, to which he had surgery and his large bowel removed and a course of chemotherapy. Unfortunately in 2015 he developed skin cancer that was removed from his ear. In april 2016 the cancer returned in his prostate but was extremely aggresive and already spread to his bones which devestatingly meant it was diagnosed as incurable so surgery was not an option only another round of chemotherapy to try keep it at bay. October 2016 he had a routine CT scan and they found a lump in his left breast, he had to undergo a full masectomy. December 2016 another devestating blow, he was diagnosed with stomach cancer his 5th primary cancer, and in January 2017 he had his whole stomach removed. Even with all this thrown at him he remained so positive and upbeat but unfortuately more bad news. We found out the stomach cancer had spread to his right rib, all the doctors could not believe this as it is extremely rare for gastric cancer to spread to bone so with further testing my dad was diagnosed with Lynch Syndrome a hereditory genetic disorder inherited from his mother (we think as she passed from cancer at only 61) which means you have an 80% chance of developing cancer in your lifetime. It isnt well known in the medical world so has been a constant battle to educate people along the way but explains why my dad has had 5 different cancers we just wish he had been diagnosed with it years earlier!

His journey continued and in January 2018 he started an aggressive chemotherapy (his third different type) which changed his life completely and made him very weak so this year already has been challenging with two hospital stays and two operations. A twisted bowel and hernia in May 2018 as a result from scar tissue from previous bowel surgery. Then July 2018 he was admitted to hospital with spinal cord compression and operated on immediately to remove a tumour in his back that was going to paralyse him This is the gastic cancer rearing its ugly head again!

Blooming heck what a story and thats just telling it briefly! im not sure how one person can go through all that and still stay so positive and strong, what a truely inspirational person my dad is And how proud we all are of him. He deserves some light at the end of this very dark tunnel he faces every day. We know hes not a hopeless cause as his oncologist is fighting his corner to have this treatment but we just cant wait any longer as a family and want to start it as soon as possible To give my dad the best chance!

Please help if you can xxxx

Hi everyone, our final balance is £20500, once just giving took the fees out. Thank you everyone for all your support. We have an article in a local newspaper being published in the new year to raise awareness about Lynch Syndrome which will be brilliant if we can help even just one family. We will also be making the donations in the new year, we have decided to donate to Lynch Syndrome UK and Marie Curie who are both amazing charities. Marie curie who have supported us as a family and Lynch Syndrome UK to help raise awareness. Many thanks

Thank you so much to Archie duggan (8 years old!) and his friends and family who climbed Whernside, one of the 3 peaks back in October. They did this in the worst possible weather conditions, high winds and torrential rain! All To raise more funds for my dad an amazing £210 we are forever grateful, thank you XX
