The stories are remarkable. It breaks more than their hearts, the strain they are under in these townships, particularly kids who are challenged by trauma and other mental health difficulties.

Waves for Change is a thriving not-for-profit project based in Cape Town and beyond, and they are in close touch with this effort from a group of friends in Cardiff to raise funds. What for? To support the training of coaches who themselves have been through the programme, and who offer connection and much more to their surfing students.

The Cardiff Friends group will monitor the flow of funds and celebrate the employment and development of these coaches. When this page closes in a couple of months, we will work with Waves for Change on a.more targeted and ongoing initiative.
