Story

AFC Hornchurch Supporters Association have set their selves a target of raising over £25,000 to build a dedicated classroom for our team academy who currently have their lessons in the club bar.

The Acadamey is for 16-18 year old kids from the local area, who want to gain a nationally recognised qualification, but don’t necessarily want to stay in full time education. Our academy provides an opportunity for those young adults to join a recognised programme, train with professional coaches and learn in a controlled environment that will lead to a BTEC National Certificate in Sports Management. The students play for Hornchurch Football Club in a development league, gain qualifications that can help them get into sports related occupations such as physiotherapy, personal training, sports psychology, sports hospitality and sports management. Of course the other possibility is that the students can be picked up by pro clubs and I find it almost unbelievable to say that of the initial 14 Year 1 students, we had one sign for Charlton, one for Leyton Orient, one for Dagenham & Redbridge and we had 2 students who were on trial with West Ham and Ipswich. That is a phenomenal achievement and one we are very proud of as a club. In this, our 2nd year of the academy, we have 22 students, space is becoming an issue! So we need to extend the facilities at the club to accommodate this excellent programme.

Therefore a set of our our fans will be walking to our away game at Tonbridge Angels on the 9th of March 2019 a total of 33 miles. Please support the fans reach their goal

Walkers are as follows Steve Newman, Jordan Newman, Simon Philpot, Paul Child , Danny Newman, Tony Bowditch, Mark Saunders, Rhys Easman, Andrew Thomson, Darren Wright and David Stainer
