Story
We are all facing huge challenges in the grip of the COVID-19 crisis. For many of us lockdown is inconvenient, restrictive and stressful – but for some in India it comes with grave risks, including starvation. The Indian lockdown means labourers cannot earn wages with which to feed their families, and their situation is increasingly desperate.
At Bombay Duck we are committed to supporting our wonderful suppliers in India and their workers. Our founder Stephanie Oberoi lives in Delhi and is currently working alongside our supplier Ahmad Brass in the metal production hub of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, which is particularly hard hit, to bulk buy food supplies and provide food parcels to some of the neediest families.
We need more help. As word has got out, more and more people are arriving daily to collect, yesterday (March 30th) there were more than 100 families. Everything donated goes directly to pay for the food to feed families in dire need. £13.50 provides a food parcel that will provide 20 days of food for a whole family. Bombay Duck is proud to match every contribution to double the donations up to £10,000.
Thank you so much xx

4 years agoWe are deeply saddened to watch the situation unfold in India. Everyone we know has been affected, the impact on our suppliers and their workers is heartbreaking. Once again we are raising money and directing it to cover immediate needs where help is not available, and we can maximise the impact of our giving through our contacts on the ground. Bombay Duck matches all donations, we thank you for your generous support.

5 years agoTHANK YOU so much to everyone who has donated to our fundraising campaign. We are continuing to supply much needed food parcels to people in desperate need in Moradabad, India. The lockdown in India has been extended and COVID-19 cases continue to rise. The city has been zoned and we are providing food in the red zone where there are several cases and we are working hard to feed people where aid has not reached. It is heartening to hear that other exporters have stepped up to help and there is a huge communal effort to ensure everyone is fed.

I work in the NHS. It's really important we make the steps we can to support everyone in the world through the pandemic and not only the UK.
