Story
We are raising money for St Dorcas Orphanage in western Kenya which is run by a York based charity. Kenya, like other African countries, is currently on lockdown and the food supply is desperate following a mass locus infestation and tropical rainstorms resulting in complete crop failure.
The charity provides a safe home and education for 30 children and was set up some 7 years ago. It is a small charity with volunteers running all the administration so donations literally go straight to the project.
Due to the current difficulties in Kenya we have chosen to fundraise for this charity to raise money for food. It usually costs £180 per year (£3.50 per week) to feed each child; due to food shortages this is currently £10 per week. You can find out more information on the charity @ www.stdorcasorphanage.co.uk.
We do hope you can support our efforts as we undertake a 114 mile bike ride after which we will run a marathon. 6 of us are attempting this huge task!
Thank you on behalf of these special children.
Becky Jane, Conor Quinn, Jan Michl, Joe Spencer, Jon McManus & Naakesha Michl.
