We're raising £12,000 To help Stanley Tick off his bucket list and make important memories with the little time he has left
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
Stanley is 10 years old and is Battling terminal Brain Cancer, Group A posterior Fossa Ependymoma with 1q gain. He was diagnosed aged 6 when GP misdiagnosed migraines and his parents took him to AnE instead a couple weeks later as he was so unwell,
His parents battled with GP and they refused to see the videos mum took or see Stanley face to face!
He was blue lighted to GOSH and within 48 hours he had 2 surgeries, 1 to drain fluid from his brain that was described as critical and the next, a 13 hour brain surgery to remove his tumour. It couldn't all be safely removed unfortunately, he lost the hearing in his left side, was left learning how to walk and talk, sit up, stand, and is still learning to read amd write again after 4 years. He entailed many months of back to back chemo, proton beam therapy and more chemo and sadly relapsed, it spread to his spine also so he needed more surgery, then months of chemo and whole brain and spine radiotherapy (craniospinal radiotherapy) sadly he relapsed again.... then more surgery, chemo ... (you see a pattern here) he has developed cataracts, growth problems, underactive thyroid, urology problems etc... he struggles with balance and co ordination and uses a wheelchair as suffers extreme fatigue, has speech difficulties and struggles with processing information amongst many many other side effects. He continued to relapse and his team said No more... we cant cure him! He is currently on Palliative treatment which entails having Chemotherapy administered directly to his brain via an Ommaya Resovoir (a sort of cannula fitted under the scalp, through the skull with a catherter type tube inserted to the ventricle (google can explain) he has already had this treatment before and it for a whole year! It will only buy him time.
***UPDATE*** THIS TREATMENT HAS NOW BEEN STOPPED AND WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT SADLY STANLEY ONLY HAS MONTHS LEFT, IF THE CANCER CONTINUES SPREADING AND GROWING AT THE RATE IT IS. WE NOW HAVE LIMITED TIME WITH HIM....
Stanley is a very isolated child, struggles to attend school due to constant treatment and then severe anxiety over time, meaning he doesn't see friends often.
The family looked into many trials and enquired and asked his team to enquire but are sadly none are available, there is just not enough research.
Please help if you can. We want him to have the chance to experience every thinghe can and wants before sadly he cant anymore.
Thankyou
