Story
Hello and thank you for looking at our page. We are raising funds to help Ellis's family, whilst they are spending all their time at LGI hospital with their 6 year old son who is currently in an induced coma on the children’s Intensive Care Unit.
Message from Paul and Sarah - Ellis was taken in to hospital on Wednesday 30 January with a headache and lifeless state, we were told it was suspected meningitis, however after further tests and scans we have been told it's acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (adem) which is swelling on the brain and spine. We were told Ellis was extremely poorly and needed to be in ICU but the BRI do not have the facilities for this for children therefore Ellis was being transferred to Leeds General Infirmary. He was put into an induced coma and transferred on Friday 01 February where he is still at present. We don’t know the full outcome as yet or the long term affects until Ellis is brought out of the coma. We have a long road ahead with many trips back and forth to the hospital and both parents staying in hospital accommodation to be with their son 24 hours.
UPDATE - Thank you everyone for your kind donations, the original target of £500 was exceeded in less than 24 hours.. Thankyou all so much..
UPDATE- Ellis is now out of acoma and is working with the physios to get his strength back up to walking.. still a long road recovery but we would like to thankyou all so much for your support and lovely donations..
