Story
The Covid-19 crisis has led to the cancellation of most of the traditional fundraising events that typically raise money for the Mayor's Charity. Because of this I have instead decided to put my body on the line in an attempt to thru-hike the entire length of the 150 mile Ouse Valley Way from source to sea (Northamptonshire to Kings Lynn) in approximately a week.
It's a long way by foot, and 20 mile+ days will probably involve mental and physical exhaustion as well as a whole lot of blisters. My aim is to follow the route of the Ouse Valley Way, marked on OS Leisure Maps, I will not divert from this route unless it is blocked.
100% money that you donate will be split between my chosen charities (I will cover any fundraising fees from Just Giving out of my own pocket).
3 Pillars Feeding the Homeless feeds and supports the homeless and most vulnerable in St Neots, Huntingdon and Peterborough.
St Neots Inclusive Playpark Foundation is dedicated to providing inclusive play equipment that will allow disabled young people to play alongside their friends, family and peers.
Revamp the Ramps is a community group who are working to providing a safe skating at the St Neots Skatepark in Riverside Park.
The Ouse Valley Trust is a new charity formed to conserve and restore the landscape, wildlife and heritage of the Cambridgeshire Great Ouse

4 years agoI managed to complete the walk in 8 days, 4 hours and one minute, for which I think is the "fastest known time" for doing the whole thing. The Hunts Post has written a wonderful story about my journey. https://www.huntspost.co.uk/news/st-neots-mayor-raises-6-700-after-epic-walk-1-6912256 I am utterly overwhelmed by your generosity, the £5k total was always speculative, so I am absolutely delighted to have raised for £7k for these wonderful charities. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart (and the painful soles of my feet).
