What is crowdfunding?
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Story
The Shakespeare Schools Festival was started in Malawi in 2017. (This is independent of Festivals in other countries.) Last year (2019) four hundred young people and teachers gathered at Kamuzu Academy from all regions of Malawi to perform shortened versions of twelve plays and more sonnets. They included boys and girls, ten year olds and twenty year olds, smart private academies and impoverished Government schools. Click here to read an account of this work! (Kind friends in Malawi, South Africa and the United Kingdom helped to make it happen.) In November 2020 we are taking the fourth festival online. Thus far, eight schools (including two deaf) and two youth groups are involved. Funds raised will support the Festival. A proportion will also support the work of WashBetter, which, in this time of ongoing pandemic, will extend materials and an educational programme in sanitation to participating schools.
