UPDATE: WE HAVE RAISED £30,000 for a community project

WE HAVE ACHIEVED OUR TARGET as we have raised the funds needed for SPWI's challenge to the Government's unjust decision, to grant the proposed waste incinerator planning permission to be built on our beautiful Isle of Portland.

There is no need to raise any more funds for the Statutory Review, but I'm keeping the JustGiving account open, as if the judgment is not in our favour, our lawyers may advise us that there is merit in appealing to the Court of Appeal and we may need to use the account again.

We still have a chance to Stop the Portland Waste Incinerator through a legal challenge! Your help raising funds to pay for legal representation is needed.

Despite overwhelming community opposition to a waste incinerator at Portland Port, Powerfuel Portland took the decision to appeal against Dorset Council’s unanimous decision to REFUSE the Portland Waste Incinerator planning application.

Unfortunately, the Planning Inspector advised the Government to overturn the refusal of the planning permission, and the Secretary of State granted the waste incinerator planning permission.

We now have one last chance to stop the waste incinerator from being built by challenging the decision in the High Court in front of a Judge. This is a legal battle not a planning battle and we need a legal team to help us to have any chance of getting a High Court Judge to quash the Government’s decision.

We therefore, once again, need to raise funds to engage a legal team, consisting of a lawyer, barrister and KC to present the legal grounds for challenging the decision, in order to ensure this Statutory Review gets heard in the High Court and in an attempt to quash the Government's decision to grant planning permission.
