Story
Thank you so much for clicking through in support of the Spread Some Joy Donate a Toy campaign.
What is it
The Spread Some Joy Donate a Toy campaign is the festive initiative of The Eva Tucker Brighter Future Fund.
Motivated by the love and care she experienced at the Great Ormand Street Hospital, Ipswich Mum Danielle Tucker has committed to turn her experience into something positive for the children and families stuck in hospital this Christmas.
Dani and Eva’s full story can be found here. Danielle Tucker is fundraising for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (justgiving.com) It isn’t easy reading, but it’s inspiring.
Why are we helping
If you have clicked through to this page then you have already read about why SEH French has decided to get behind the cause for the third year. Here is our explanation one more time…..
It is hard to imagine a more difficult thing for a child than to be seriously ill and stuck in hospital, except perhaps, to be there at Christmas.
Local Mum Dani Tucker experienced this first-hand when spending time in hospital with her second-born Eva. She also witnessed the joy on the faces of the children when a national supermarket chain delivered festive toys and treats.
When that supermarket stepped aside Dani could not bear to see the children go without the Christmas magic which had changed their experience of hospital at Christmas and had supported their parents at a most difficult time.
So Dani took up the challenge single handedly, collecting donations from kind friends and local companies, to fill a van and take magic and care to the Great Ormand Street kids – working with the care team to make sure every child has an appropriate gift, and the play space is kept vibrant and enriching for kids to come.
We don’t want to be too dramatic about it, but many of the SEH team are parents themselves, and luckily most of us can only imagine how hard the experience of these parents and children must be. If we can do just the tiniest thing to brighten their day, we want to help.
How you can help
You can donate toys in person at head office – 30 White House Road. If you prefer that we do the shopping for you then make a donation here, we will use the money to buy the toys and treats which the care team have recommended. We know that Christmas is already expensive and even the smallest donation helps (huge donations would also be nice).
Don’t be shy, email heather.bryan@sehfrench.co.uk with any queries, and please please spread the word!
We have a deadline – 4th December 2024. Once delivered, toys are delivered, sorted by the care team, allocated and wrapped – while they are also doing a day job!
