Story
I'm trying to launch a free, weekly, mainstream, tabloid newspaper with a difference. I'm determined to bring back journalistic integrity with fact based, balanced, well researched and well written articles and I want to get away from the sensationalist, antagonistic, opinion based content that many tabloids now use to sell their papers.
I'm determined that our paper will be FREE and will be delivered to the door on a weekly basis, so the paper will ultimately need to be funded through advertising but this campaign is to raise the funds to produce, print and distribute, at least, 10,000 copies of a pre-launch special edition. This special edition of the Spotlight Newspaper will invite readers to write in with feedback and suggestions and will also help us to secure advertising.
Incidentally, the more funds we can raise, the bigger the print volume we can go for so I'm actually hoping we can go for a much bigger print volume and target a number of locations around the country.
If you think that it's high time we had a tabloid that reaches to the heart of the issues that concern people in Britain today and focus's on facts, rather than divisive soundbites (or even fiction) to sell papers or push a political agenda then please support the Spotlight Newspaper and donate whatever you can afford folks.

7 years agoSorry I haven't been in touch folks but I've been thinking about how to move forward with the project. I consider it a massive responsibility to invest your donations wisely in order to have the best possible impact. New Facebook algorithms have severely restricted access to our online support network and FB now removes posts labelled as 'spam' by our competitors. This has prevented us from choosing target locations & putting together local teams. So, if no objections, I'd like to invest in a website first and then move to print distribution?

7 years agoHi All, It seems that certain people have noticed our success and decided try to do something to stop this project from succeeding. They are prepared to play dirty and go so far as to make a small donation just for the privilege of being able to make an anonymous slanderous remark on my JustGiving page. I've reported this to JustGiving and asked them to remove the comment. They may want to investigate the person who left the remark and I suspect that even though they opted to be anonymous they will no doubt have left their payment details. :)

7 years agoWell friends, we smashed out £1500 target! We can now go for a 10,000 copy print run. I'm looking into an appropriate target area for us to launch our newspaper (for the best possible impact). I've also raised the £1500 target to £3000 as this will actually give us 25,000 copies. There are a number of price breaks (printing and distribution costs mainly) for volumes between 10,000 and 25,000 (as well as above 25,000 of course), so depending on how much we can raise between now and when we go to print, we can go for an even larger print volume.

The very best of luck! We need more integrity and honesty in our newspapers. There are enough rags around spouting right-wing sponsored propaganda.
