I'm trying to launch a brand new mainstream tabloid newspaper with a difference.

I've taken a keen interest in politics for many years now but fall into the old school category of journalists who like fact based, balanced and well researched articles.

Over recent years, I've seen a number of mainstream tabloids turning away from these basic principles and opting, instead, to go for sensationalized, opinion based, articles in order to sell their papers and I'd like to change this!

My goal is to set up a new tabloid that still holds true to the basic ethics of honest journalism and isn't focused on sales figures. In fact, I'm determined that our paper will be FREE and will be delivered to the door. I've worked out a simple business model, based primarily on advertising, that would allow us to produce a weekly paper.

This campaign is to raise the funds to produce, print and distribute, at least, 10,000 copies of a pre-launch special edition of the Spotlight Newspaper. This special edition will also invite readers to write in with feedback and suggestions and will help us tremendously when we come to securing advertising. The paper will start in one location and then, as we secure sufficient advertising funds, we will hopefully be in a position to increase print volumes and expand to other towns and cities.
