Story
Pennine Prospects is a unique rural regeneration not-for-profit company created in 2005 as a champion for the dramatic upland landscape of the South Pennines.
The strengths of the landscape include its accessible ridges, dramatic steep valley sides, robust weather and distant views. The South Pennines’ signature is its amazing landscape. Everything that we do to promote awareness of this asset helps us build resilience into our communities, the economy and reinforces pride of place.
The area is blessed with calm stretches of open water, rivers, woodlands, crags, farmland with distinctive stone walls, pack-horse trails and moorland. The communities are hard-working, creative and diverse and the area is a perfect setting for outdoor leisure and recreation activities.
We would like to encourage people attending events in this year's festival and any philanthropists out there to contribute towards funding the South Pennines Walk and Ride Festival for this and future years. The festival provides opportunities for inclusive events and attendant health benefits to the rural and urban communities around and beyond the South Pennines in engaging in outdoor leisure and recreation activities. There is a wonderful mix of walking, cycling, mountain biking and horse riding events accessible to people with differing experience of participating in these recreational activities. We hope to encourage young people, families, inactive people or those with mobility restrictions and those with chaotic home lives that struggle to engage to get out into the landscape... people across disciplines, age groups, origins, heritage and backgrounds to get together and to connect with and value the distinctive landscape of the South Pennines.

This is a great festival. I attended a number of events last year and it would be a real shame if we couldn't enjoy this year on year.
