About Sound Waves

Sound Waves is an inclusive and dynamic community choir founded in Dover, Kent, with the aim of improving the lives of people within the local community through the universal language of song. Founded on the belief that music can bring people together, improve wellbeing, and encourage change, Sound Waves has grown to become a well established and extremely active cultural presence within the region.

As a non-auditioned choir open to everyone, irrespective of musical experience or background, Sound Waves embraces a broad cross-section of the community. Members vary from absolute beginners to seasoned singers, sharing a universal love of music and a common wish to make a difference through song. Rehearsals are held weekly in a convenient and welcoming location, where members learn not only vocal technique and musical confidence, but also reap the significant emotional and psychological benefits of making music together.

Sound Waves is not just a choir; it's a community resource, a catalyst for connection, and a champion of music's life-changing power. Our work has direct value to individuals, contributes to community cohesion, aids health and wellbeing, helps good causes, and adds to the cultural life of Dover and the surrounding area. Thanks to the support of grants and fundraising, we can continue to increase this impact—reaching more people, forging new partnerships, and ensuring that the harmony, hope, and community sound continues to ring out across Kent.
