Story

Hi all.

Five years after the last fundraising challenge in memory of Sophie Moolman, we've decided to go again! Last time we amazingly raised over £10k for Rebecca House Children's hospice.

If you're keen to learn details of the 2019 challenge, how phenomenally tough it was (and give context on how crazy the next one is going to be), check the two videos found here.

Sophie would've turned 13 on NYD 2024 if not taken from us suddenly aged just 7 in March 2018 by Acute Myocarditis.

This latest challenge will push me far further than the last, with lots of other contributing fundraising events (raffles, cake bakes, sponsored walks etc.) to contribute to the final amount.

All proceeds will be split 50/50 between the SCBU / Neonatal unit of Noble Hospital IoM (who helped Sophie on her way into life) and Rebecca House Children's Hospice (who were there on her way out of life).

Please give what you can to these two fantastic causes, you can track my progress on the challenge and be kept informed of other fundraising events on this page.

My challenge

1) Run for 400 consecutive days (from Wed 20th Dec 2023 to Wed 22nd Jan 2025)

2) Run 3500 miles over the 400 days (on average 8.75 miles per day)

3) No 'easy cheats' (no walking, cycling or running on treadmills - all runs must be outside - rain, snow or shine)

4) Complete several big marathon and ultra-marathon events during the 400 days. Including pacing my eldest son Bailey to his first marathon in Paris in April 2024.

5) Run 4 marathons in 4 weeks in April (and Tokyo mazza in March!) - these being Brighton, Boston UK, Boston USA and London marathons. The latter will also see me complete my SECOND six-star major medal (having completed my first at Tokyo in March 2024!)

6) ** NEW (Nov 2024)** I HAVE PEOPLE JOINING ME! During my last 90 days, the legend that is Mark Hadfield has chosen to challenge himself and Run Every Day for 90 days! He's not 'just' doing a mile or 5km every day either! GO MARK!

Thanks for reading and please do join me on a run at any point, the company will be most welcome, pace doesn't matter.

All runs will be shown on my Strava page here - https://www.strava.com/athletes/11516605

Some awesome news.... Strava shows runs to two decimal places (8.99 miles etc.) which I've been using on a tracker I created.......so i decided to delve a little deeper....what if for every run, for the past 312 days, those extra 'missing' decimal places added up to a few miles I never counted?... And BINGO! Would you believe it, they added up to an extra 12.23 miles that I'd ran but not counted due to strava only showing the two decimal places! That means folks....I'm just 26.07 miles behind with 87 days to go!!!!

Been a hell of a week guys! Full of the lurgy, I somehow (with help from some awesome running friends) managed a 60 mile week and ensure I dont fall behind any further. After today's running, I have 87 days remaining and 800 miles to go (9.2 miles per day). Got to keep going....
