Story

Simon Tilley, a 44-year-old whistleblower and auditor from Northampton, is being held on remand despite posing no danger to the public or risk of absconding.

We are raising funds to support Simon's appeal of the remand and to bring Simon home to his family and friends. Any remaining funds will be used to support the next stage of Simon's legal battle.

Simon, who has Asperger’s syndrome, spent two years investigating misconduct within Northamptonshire Police, including uncovering actions by former Chief Constable Nick Adderley that led to his dismissal.

Instead of being commended for exposing wrongdoing and holding senior officials accountable, Simon now faces charges of stalking and perverting the course of justice. His supporters believe that his detention raises serious concerns about how whistleblowers are treated in the UK.

Simon’s continued detention is disproportionate for several reasons:

• He is not a danger to the public.

• He poses no flight risk and has fully complied with the legal process.

• He has autism, and being held without reasonable adjustments is causing unnecessary distress, potentially breaching the Equality Act 2010.

Simon is a well known campaigner for police reform and his work on helping expose Chief Constable Nick Adderley has led for Simon to call for Adderley’s pension to be removed. An online petition link has already gained substantial traction.

Additionally, Simon supported the former partner of Jonathan Nunn, Conservative leader of West Northants council, in helping to expose Nunn as a serial violent abuser of women. Simon’s good work led to Private Eye magazine publishing a detailed of account of Nunn’s abusive actions.

Not only concerned with police activism and whistleblowing, Simon has demonstrated a successful track record in helping customers of a train company who had lost money through that train company failing to fulfil their obligations by running trains on time. The link to Simon’s train campaign is at the foot of this petition. This not only demonstrates Simon’s dogged pursuit of and belief in justice, but also Simon’s determination in helping others

We are a group of Simon's friends and want to help Simon to appeal his remand by securing legal advice and support.

PLEASE DONATE WHATEVER YOU CAN, AND WE THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO HELP FREE SIMON TILLEY. All moneys will be transferred to Simon's family.
