Iʼm raising £5,000 to share my story of living with paralysis in I'm Still Simon - The Life After Death Podcast. It's been a journey of challenges and triumphs.

Story

I survived a devastating car accident at the age of 16. It left me paralysed from the neck down. I was told I had only six months to live. That was over 40 years ago. I was told I'd never be a father; I have two lads now in their 20s. I want to produce a podcast to inspire and offer hope to others who live with disability as well as their families and friends.
We have managed three episodes - thank you for you generosity. We're now trying to generate funds for episode 4, and beyond.

6 days agoHave a look at this amazing photograph! One of the UK's top camera men, Ian Watts came to Clapham Common on a beautiful sunny day in March. We are so appreciative of his work and his time which he donated to the cause: https://youtube.com/@IamStillSimon. We'll show lots more of Ian's wonderful shots in the show and on the website. Thank you so much, Ian.

8 days agoI've had a bumpy time of late: I had to move out of my flat while a leak was fixed which was very disruptive. Plus, I've had to deal with an ever-changing roster of carers, many of whom aren't familiar with spinal cord injuries. My life depends entirely on the support I get from my carers; if they are grumpy and careless, I'm in for a difficult time. But if they are helpful and enthusiastic, it makes all the difference. We're getting ready to make Episode 4 - we have a fabulous guest! I'm really looking forward to sharing it with you.

3 months agoIt's a new year and we're preparing a new episode of I'm Still Simon - Episode 3. We've scraped together just enough to pay our fabulous editor, Tevin. Simon still has loads to tell; he promises to delve into some of the aspects of living with disability that aren't often talked about. As many of you know, Simon is smart and funny but what he most wants to do is to draw back the curtain on spinal cord injury in particular, and disability in general. He hopes to inspire people living with disability as well as their families and friends.
