Story
Always loved and valued by us and many others, Simon tragically ended his life on the 8th of June, 2022. We cannot tell you “why”, but we can tell you that we, his wife Clare and children Olivia, Rufus and Fifi, adored him as he adored us, and he was very happy in his family life.
As a father he was kind, loving, accepting, funny, supportive and joyfully surprised by his children as they grew into adulthood. As a husband he was never happier than when he had an opportunity to share his love and laughter.
We are very touched by all the thoughtful messages we have received, that speak of people’s love and respect for Simon, and describe the happiness that he brought to their lives.
Simon understood that, in any given context, we all share a fundamental need to be recognised, appreciated, valued and respected, so that we can feel honoured and honourable. In his memory we will strive to enable others to really believe that they are valued for who they are.
There will be a small family funeral, on the 1st of July 2022, close to his parents and his childhood home. Enquiries to The Cornish Funeral Company Ltd, Carharthen Forge, Tresillian, Truro, TR2 4AB; Telephone 01872 521172; email info@thecornishfuneralcompany.co.uk
We ask everyone who was glad to have known Simon to celebrate him in their own way, perhaps pausing to recognise the wonders of the natural world, or by raising a glass in memory of evenings spent with him.
Simon lived his whole life with a love for our rural landscape and a care for the people responsible for its preservation. The values and efforts of Farm Cornwall and The Cornwall Wildlife Trust, and their work to promote and protect the local farming environment, were very important to Simon. In lieu of floral tributes, we have therefore chosen these two charities for donations in his memory.
