I've raised £3000 to help raise funds for Simon & his family. Andy Benn has kindly set up to raise funds towards equipment and further rehabilitation

What if this happened to me?
Helping Simon and his family after suffering a life threatening spinal cord injury. Simon is a Patissier/Development chef since 1994 and worked with some prestigious companies over the years.
In October 2015 Simon was injured with a spinal cord injury from a viral abscess on the spinal cord. Simon spent 8 months in hospital and has ongoing rehabilitation to help him. In addition having to cope with all the stresses related with a disability psychological and physically.
Unfortunately the catering industry isn’t the easiest business to return to with a disability. There are issues like wheelchair access, kitchens and establishments not suited for people with disabilities.
A good friend and previous work colleague Andy Benn which worked with Simon at Maison Blanc, has kindly set a challenge to raise money for Simon and his family being struck with this devastating life changing injury. But also to make the industry aware of people with disabilities, and ask the question ‘what if this happened to me?’
The challenge for Andy and some friends to walk up and down Ben Nevis as many times possible, which will take place on the longest day of the year, 21st June 2018.
Any funds raised will help Simons family and support Simon, but also campaign for people within the catering industry. Making the industry aware that suddenly being hit with a disability could happen to anyone at anytime.
Simon setup a group called Cater4SCI
which will only help to get more of the big names aware within the industry.
Any donation would be so gratefully received to help Simon’s family, and further rehabilitation.
It will also help spread awareness and start a worthy project & campaign to help injured/disabled chefs within the catering trade. #CATER4SCI
