On the 23rd of April I will be running the Hamburg Marathon, and on the 12th of May I will be running the Helsinki Marathon to raise funds for the Carmel Charity Foundation. These will be my 22nd and 23rd marathons!

The Carmel Charity Foundation was established in 2019 and I am one of the founding members and a trustee. The Foundation raises funds and organises projects to benefit children and young adults with physical ill-health, mental health issues, disability or hardship for them and their families. We aim to make difficult lives easier through the provision of grants, equipment, and the support of education & training. Most recently we have organised and carried out projects helping under privileged children, young people, and families in the local community.

The money raised by the Foundation last year was allocated to 2 projects with the aim of contributing in a meaningful way to the local community. The Carmel Charity Foundation support team split themselves into 2 teams – Team food and Team Toys.

Team food chose 4 different local food banks and community centres to donate food parcels to. They had food, toiletries and essentials delivered to office, set up a pick and pick area and produced 204 food parcels. They then distributed these to their local charities.

Team toys chose 7 children’s charities to donate Christmas gifts to. They purchased 445 gifts for children with disabilities, children in group homes, children’s wards and local charities who had identified children in need. The team then distributed these to their chosen charities.

I would like to thank everyone who has always supported the many good causes I have run for over the years. I love running, and raising money whilst doing so makes it all the more rewarding. I remain passionate about making a difference and supporting those less fortunate.
