Story
My name is Shazia but I'm known as Shaz. I'm 15 years old and will start Yr11 in September 2016.
I have a medical condition, Epilepsy which I'm taking medication for and am still being seen by a Consultant, however I do not want this to be a hurdle in my life.
An amazing opportunity has arisen allowing me to accomplish one of the greatest experiences in a lifetime, to take part and achieve The Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, (DofE) Norway, July 2017.
The DofE is the world's leading achievement award for young people, recognised by employers and universities alike. This enables me to experience completely different cultures and environments aside from what I experience at home.
However it’s not for free…This project costs £3,500 to make it happen.
As well as focusing on my studies to aim for A* in all my GCSE subjects which will take place in June 2017, I have put myself forward for many jobs to earn as much money as possible.
So far I have been doing:
a. Paper rounds every morning, 7 days a week
b. Helping my Dad run his chess club
c. Hiring a table in many local festivals and fairs with my mum and
sisters selling hair braid styles, henna tattoos and homemade loom
bands!
I'm so grateful for everyone who has helped me so far, and with the love and support of my family and friends as well as all those who believe in me, can really help me to make this happen.
Please help me gain this wonderful experience, to make me a better person for our society by contributing, no matter how small, towards the cost of The DofE.
Every penny is really appreciated and brings me a step closer
towards my journey of achieving the Gold DofE.
I know you want to :P
