Story

Our aim is to make the outdoor area accessible to our Key Stage One children all year around, as currently the grassed area gets very boggy which restricts access to days that are sunny and dry, which are often few and far between.

We have used our DFC Grant (Capital funding) to create a soft play area using wet pour, and we have installed a canopy over part of the area to allow the children some shelter from rain, or sun!

The Kidsty Pike staff team are hoping to continue with the developments by installing a fence, and they would love to be able to upgrade some of their current furniture and storage which is rather old and quite weather damaged and also buy some fun new things to use for their outdoor work.

Recently, part of the class' ‘learning from home’ work has been to plan and organise a sponsored event that the children (and their families in some cases) will complete in early March.

It’s great to get children involved in fundraising from a young age. Showing them that they can have a lot of fun helping others is an important life lesson and helps to build the sort of communities we all want.

We have been REALLY impressed about how enthusiastic the children have been to set themselves challenges to raise funds for our garden development project and wanted to open the opportunity to donate to the project up to the wider community.

Some events planned include a swim in Ullswater Lake (in February brrrrr), helping mum & dad with jobs around the house, 5 mile bike rides and walks around the concrete road, a 2 mile run, a 30 miles in 1 day bike ride, a sponsored silence, sponsored trampoline bounce, sponsored puddle splash, to climb Kidsty Pike (the name of our class), cycling 21 laps of our school running track to name but a few.

Many thanks to the parents of Kidsty Pike pupils who are supporting their child with their fundraising activities and to those of you who have sponsored a pupil as well.

We will work with the children to create a 'wish-list' of items to purchase when we have added up the total amount of money raised.
