I am taking part in a Bungee jump on the 4th August 2019, The bungee jump is 160 feet high and will take place in Belfast. We are hoping to be able to video live on our facebook page.
All sponsorship money will go into activities for our young people who attend our meet-ups.
All About Us - ASD Teens improve the lives of our young people and their families by improving their health and wellbeing through increased social interaction, providing an insight and the chance to demonstrate a wide range of therapies available, the introduction of new coping mechanisms and also the option to learn new skills and make friendships.
Our group caters for young people aged 8 -18, both those diagnosed with autism and those going through the diagnosis process. There are many conditions under the umbrella of autism but common difficulties include having trouble with social interaction and communication, controlling emotions, understanding feelings and starting conversations, this leads to our young people withdrawing from everyday life and becoming very isolated in their community.
Autism is a relatively new diagnosis given after a long diagnosis process and according to the NHS one in every hundred people have ASD and these figures continue to grow, more boys are diagnosed than girls, and according to NAS 695,000 people in the UK may be autistic, seventy percent of children who are on the spectrum are non-verbal and fifty percent of children with severe learning difficulties have a diagnosis of asd. There are still very limited resources available for those diagnosed and more so for the age group we provide support for. This has led to the social isolation and loneliness for our young people, their families and their siblings.
Our charity is overseen by volunteers and teen leaders, like myself and i want to help our group raise money to help carry on with the activities that we all enjoy.
