    Story

The Wellingborough is a market town in Northamptonshire and it has a Muslim population of 2500 people. It has got two mosques and no dead body washing facilities or no facilities for women to pray.

The original population has started to grow since the 80s and it is a growing Muslim community. There is easy communication from Midlands, London and the North so it is a central focus point for people to come and live here.

However, it is a deprived area and all the Muslim population are living in low-earning section. They are mainly employed in taxi services, fast food and some casual employment.

Generally, the Muslim population are low-earners and are struggling to provide any support for the Mosque or community centre, but their needs are expanding day-by-day as mortality rate has increased in the last 10 years. This is due to the fact that 35% of the population are well above 65 years of age, so almost each household has 1 or 2 people in the age bracket 65 to 93.

In the last couple of years, the community and nationally and internationally has supported to purchase this building to support the community's needs for religious and educational purposes. But the building was derelict, and it needs to be upgraded and to fulfil the requirements of the community's needs to facilitate the dead body washing facilities and burial process.

Our nearest mortuary is 15 miles from Wellingborough and it is very difficult for the families to attend and complete the process of burial, so we desperately need your help to build the extension.

To achieve this, an extension to the building is immediately necessary and planning permission has already been obtained. To complete the work, no funds are available and local authorities do not provide any support to build for religious purposes.

We are appealing to everybody, especially the Muslim community, to help achieve our vision to support, to build the extension to serve the purpose for the Muslim community.
