Story
At the start of the pandemic in 2020, many of our members dedicated their time and sewing skills by working with local teams to make scrubs, medical gowns and masks for the NHS. Around the country, tens of thousands of items were made at a time when a national shortage of this essential PPE was well documented.
Two years on and Sew Solid Crew has evolved - still active and still producing handsewn items for our local NHS Trust, for vaccination centres and making contributions to other groups working with those in greatest need.
Our latest production includes ‘Wiggly Bags’ to hold Hickman lines for the children’s oncology clinics at Barts Health Trust hospitals. We make cheerful. child-sized medical gowns to bring a bit of joy to the families at their most difficult times. And yes, we still make scrubs sets out of the famous rainbow fabric to bring smiles to the wards.
We know there’s not a shortage of appreciation, admiration and gratitude for our NHS friends who work tirelessly to care for us and keep us safe. Team Sew Solid Crew will continue to do everything we can to show that we care for them in return.
Your generous donations are what makes this all possible.

With guidance from our friends at Barts Health Trust, we’ve been hand making Wiggly Bags for children undergoing cancer care in their specialist clinics. These cheery bags help to keep tubes safe, which are used to deliver essential medicines for the duration of their treatment. Delivered today to The Royal London Hospital's children's oncology department: 144 Wiggly Bags 36 Medicine Bags 27 Go Bags ...continued
