Story

Parents, children and friends of Selling Primary School are going to walk 25 miles to Chatham Dockyard over 2 days on the 20th and 21st October.

On the 21st October 2024, the anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, Selling School will complete a sponsored walk from Selling School to Chatham dockyards where HMS Victory was constructed in 1759, to raise money for the purchase of a school mini bus. This date has been chosen due to the strong links between the Battle of Trafalgar and our little village of Selling. Stephen Hilton, Master's mate on the Minotaur was gifted two flags and brought them back to Selling. They were housed in St Mary the Virgin Church in Selling for many years, but can now be seen at the Greenwich Maritime Museum.

Selling is a small, rural and relatively remote school. It serves a mixed and wide demographic, with some children and families from relatively deprived backgrounds.

Currently not only do our children face significant challenges in accessing educational, music, sporting and extracurricular activities, but also in attending the school. Recent cuts to transport funding KCC have led to families struggling to get their children to school.
