Scottie’s challenge – Tackling MND #Mozza

Empowering hope with unbreakable spirit

Imagine waking up one morning and being diagnosed with a condition that has no cure. That’s what’s happened to our friend and fellow Bromsgrove Rugby club player Scott Morris. To hear the words, Motor Neurone Disease (MND) cannot be imagined. Scott was a healthy 43-year-old, husband and father to a young family. What would you do? Well, Scott in true rugby fashion has decided to tackle it head on and live everyday with passion and a determination to see the bright side of life. We, as a rugby family are pulling together to raise money to highlight the devastating impact of MND through the MND Association and through fund raising via crowdfunding to ensure that Scott and his family can seize every moment. We know how this disease has impacted on the rugby family with Doddie Weir and now Rob Burrows. Rob summed it up very well when he said “First it comes for your voice. Then it takes your legs. It tries to rob you of your breath. But it can’t sap your spirit”. For those that know Scott, you will understand that last bit encapsulates all that is Scott. He’s the life and soul of the party, loved by all, and has the ability to light up a room as well as taking the micky out of himself. One of life’s good guys.

Ever wanted to step up and make a difference? Well, now’s your chance. We are aiming to raise 50K. This is a call to arms to the rugby family, football family, community and everyone that has been touched by this. Life is very fragile and its only when others suffer that it causes us to reflect on how lucky we are. Every pound counts to make more special memories.

We have decided that 20% of monies raised will go the MND Association with the remaining 80% going to Scott and his family to help navigate through this challenging period. The fund raising will take many forms and is only restricted by our imagination. We will continue to promote events as they are planned in order to get support and inclusion.
