Story
The Forget Me Not charity is dedicated to supporting families who have lost babies during pregnancy, birth, or shortly after birth and helps to provide strength and support to the emotional needs of such families.
The charity was setup by Jo Lane and Karla Cairns who had both suffered the loss of a baby. The support and help they received afterwards was very limited and came mainly from family and friends.
The group has helped fund the Forget Me Not bereavement suite at Basildon Hospital and offers on going support to parents and other family members who have lost children before, during or after birth. A support group is held once a month at the Laindon Community Centre where other parents who have suffered the same fate can talk about their feelings and experiences.
The charity has also “opened” a special plot at Basildon Cemetery, where parents who have lost children have a relevant plot to put plaques for their babies.
It is at Basildon Crematorium where each year a special service of remembrance is held for all the families who have lost a child. This is a special service and is held in memory and celebration for each baby and child that has been “lost” too early. Memorial candles are lit and at the end of the service each family releases a pink or blue balloon with a message written on it in memory of their little ones that they have lost.
My wife Laura and I have suffered the pain of losing four precious babies over the last two years. The help and support that the Forget Me Not Charity gave to Laura and myself was amazing and the memorial service that is held each year is truly a special occasion and really helped both of us come to terms with our losses. The service is a very humbling experience and it is a special place to meet other brave and wonderful families.
The charity requires on going support to keep providing its wonderful service.
Please sponsor me what you can, every penny is much appreciated!!

8 years agoThanks to everyone who has donated to this page, it means a lot to me and Laura and will be a great help to Forget Me Not. Just in case anyone was wondering I have finished the marathon and did it in 3:31:27. For some reason my chip hasn't been picked up at the finish line. Today was the toughest marathon I've done but was definitely the most emotional and rewarding!! Thanks again for all your support, you're all amazing. Scotty XXX

I am running the London Marathon this year for the Forget Me Not Charity. I am running in memory of the 4 precious babies my wife Laura and I have lost the last two years and also for all of our family and friends who have also suffered the same pain and anguish as we did.
