Story

The Scottish Deaf National Futsal squad, under the Scottish Deaf Football Association, the world’s oldest national deaf/disabled sporting organisation having founded in 1889, has qualified for the European Deaf Futsal Championships for the first time ever through qualification. However, to get to this prestigious tournament, we still have £10,000 to raise. Please help us make this dream come true by supporting our unique squad.

For those people that do not know what Futsal is. Futsal is a football-based game that is situated indoors mainly played across the world. It is on a hard court and has very similar features to 5 a side. Futsal has 5 players in each team and there are two teams on the pitch. However, unlike 5 a side there are no walls to use so control of the ball (sized 4 as opposite to size 5!) in futsal is that much more important!

There is a Deaf Futsal League set up in Scotland which consists of three competitions which consist of the League, The Deaf League Cup and the Deaf Scottish Cup. Four teams have participated in the competitions in which the details can be found on SDFA website – www.deaffa.scot.

This will be just the second time Scotland have played in the Deaf European Championships and the first time through qualification as previously mentioned. This is a very exciting time for Scottish Deaf Futsal to thrive and continue to develop.

The players have contributed lot to the country, as role-models for young deaf generations. The country will be able to follow the tournament in Italy via live stream which will shared via our social media – Twitter & Facebook).

The funds raised will be used to cover half of the costs (all inclusive) to take our squad to Italy.

Any donation, small or large, will be massively appreciated to help the squad get that one step closer to doing the whole of the country proud of our deaf players and to inspire future generation of young deaf children/people who take interest in football.
