Story

The Holistic Cancer Centre is facing a crisis!

We are facing a critical challenge and uncertain future due to the NHS stopping our funding from January 2025.

This devastating loss is 28% (which amounts to approx £43,000) of our annual budget, threatening our ability to provide essential support to cancer patients.

We are a Nurse-Led charity founded in 1988, offering vital life changing support in physical, emotional and psychological aspects of having a cancer diagnosis. We are highly regarded and have a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. We offer Holistic needs assessments for our comprehensive services, which include acupuncture, reflexology, cranio sacral therapy, counselling, Indian head massage, reiki, aromatherapy, nutrition awareness, group sessions of therapy, support groups, coffee mornings, and much more.

We have developed an amazing facility that caters for the complex needs of individuals. We are a nonprofit organisation offering these treatments to thousands of cancer patients completely free of charge!

We have direct referrals from oncologists, specialists, GP practices along with self referrals, and bridge a gap in vital support for cancer patients across the regions. We currently provide over 9000 free sessions annually to those in need.

Current statistics state that the Wirral alone will see another 55,000 more cancer diagnosis by 2028 (www.wuth.nhs.uk) causing increased demand on the NHS. Our funding cut will result in longer waiting lists, more pressure on GP surgeries, A&E Departments, and reduced access on other support services.

Just as a comparison:

£43,700 pays for a Band 7 NHS staff nurse at a hospital

£43,600 pays for 4 qualified Staff Nurses, 2 admin staff, 2 Charity shop Managers, counsellors and numerous volunteer therapists at the Holistic Cancer Centre.

Without your help and support, vital services may be lost, and we believe many cancer patients will suffer.

With your help and support, the Holistic Cancer Centre can continue its vital work for the benefit of patients.

Donate now & share our JustGiving page to help save this vital Nurse-Led service.
