Story
Since Sister Midnight opened our doors in 2018 our focus has been providing a platform for local bands and contributing to the incredible DIY music scene in South East London that we feel so lucky to be a part of.
Amidst the outbreak of COVID-19 a lot of bands and promoters have, very understandably, cancelled or postponed events. We fully understand the need for social distancing and agree with the decisions of all the bands and promoters we work with to cancel and postpone their shows. We'll now be closed until the 31st of March.
However this devastatingly means that Sister Midnight is faced with the very real threat of closure. Running a small independent venue is difficult financially at the best of times, but with the loss of all our income we’re left unable to pay rent and bills. There have been some measures made by the government to try and alleviate pressures facing small business through this period, but these are by no means guaranteed and timeframes for receiving the help are not in place yet.
With short term expenditures looming as a very real threat, our only hope to get through this is to ask the community for help. We desperately need to raise funds to help towards the cost of rent and bills during this time. All funds will be used transparently. Putting upon the community like this is something we would only do in truly desperate times, we've been so grateful for your support since we opened and we hope that if you're able to, you will support us now.
Please donate if you can, share if possible but most importantly stay safe and be good to each other.
