Darwin is our 4 month old Shug (Shih-Tzu cross Pug) puppy.

He and his cat brother, Edgar, are our absolute world and we love them very much.

A few weeks ago, Darwin became unwell. He would stumble, rock his head and was overall not his cheerful, happy puppy-self.

Darwin was referred by his local vets to the Royal Veterinary College; Queen Mother Hospital for Animals in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. Here he would get the best diagnostics and treatment available.

After taking him to an emergency appointment, Darwin had x-rays and ultrasounds. This has determined that Darwin does have a 'Portosystemic Shunt' of the liver. This means that his liver doesn't get rid of the toxins that it should and they then travel in his blood, to his brain causing neurological problems.

Myself and my partner work very hard but unfortunately it would be impossible for us to pay for all of his treatment on our own.

We hope that people will support Darwin to return to being the beautiful, happy boy we fell in love with.
