Story
Football is integral to the life of so many people in our country. I'm a Sheffield Wednesday fan and to imagine them going out of existence can't be comprehended. There would be a huge void left in my life and this is the stark reality facing the fans of Bury FC.
"The Shakers" were established in 1885 and along with Manchester City (2019) hold the record for the biggest FA Cup Final win in history 6–0, in 1903. The FA Cup is the world's greatest club competition and for Bury to hold this record, in one of the most prestigious competitions on the planet, shows the history they have, to the country and our great sport.
In 2005, Bury became the first and still only club, to score 1,000 goals in all four professional tiers in England.
They are now facing the very real prospect of going out of business. From the players finding new clubs and the staff not being able to support their families, the threat of this financial burden could affect so many.
As football fans we have the power, strength, unity and opportunity to help protect the unimaginable happening to this historic club. Their match against my club, in the Carabao Cup has been suspended, along with EFL league fixtures and they've been issued a deadline of 23rd August, to meet all outstanding requirements of the EFL’s insolvency policy, or it's membership will be withdrawn.
THIS SIMPLY CANNOT HAPPEN!
Spread the word on your club forums, fanzines, matchday programmes, with your own club, link this page on your Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and any other social media! But more importantly donate anything you can!
We have 2 weeks to save a part of our football family. Don't buy a pie, Bovril, that extra pint, or a match programme this weekend, instead donate that money to help pay Bury's debts off and ensure their survival in our football family!
The total attendance from the 1st week of the EFL was 184,693. Add the Premiership & we have a fighting chance to do this...

5 years agoOnce a decision has been passed on the future of the football club, WE can make a decision on where the money goes. The options are:- 1) Close the page & everyone's money is refunded within 5-10 days {this is JustGiving's Timescales & out of my hands, as the money is still with them}. 2) Donate to a chosen charity, decided by those who have donated. 3) Leave the page running until a decision is made on the Phoenix Club & money donated to that. I was unaware but JustGiving take 2.9% of total donations & also 25p per donation.

5 years agoFans from Germany & Scotland have also donated. It really is a shame, that after tweeting so many Bury born celebs, ex-players, etc that this hasn't got the backing from those higher up.
