Story

Please support the campaign to keep Bristol Zoo Gardens for current and future generations to enjoy.

Bristol Zoo is the fifth oldest in the world and its gardens are hallowed ground in the city. But the Zoological Society that owns and runs it has closed the site to the public as part of a plan to sell it off and develop the site for luxury housing.

Our campaign is challenging this strategy, based on evidence from animal experts, zoo employees, academics and the zoo’s own statements and financial records. It calls for the Zoo’s development scheme to be rejected, to allow time for a plan that keeps the site as a treasured place for the people of Bristol, whether as a reimagined zoo or something else, inspiring and wonderful.

The Zoo has already spent a fortune developing its plans and we have a major task to get them to change course, but IT'S NOT TOO LATE and IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE!

We need funds to run the campaign, for printing, leafletting, booking meeting places, running web sites and social media, getting expert advice from lawyers and accountants. We'd like to put up posters, make videos and make a lot of noise to counter the Zoo's narrative, defeat their planning application and persuade their Trustees and Shareholders to think again.

None of the founders are being paid in any way, and all the funds will go towards running, publicising and supporting the campaign.
