Stevie the Greyhound was attacked by a large aggressive Alsatian in a local park on Hogmanay. His right shoulder and leg have been left severely injured as a result of the brutal mauling he received. This was a horrific experience for both poor Stevie and his owner who were left deeply shocked and distressed by this unpleasant occurrence. Stevie has undergone two major operations for skin grafts to date. The first being unsuccessful and the second with only partial success.
Stevie is expected to undergo future surgeries in attempt to ensure he makes a recovery and to save his leg. The extent of his injuries have meant that the vet has had to make frequent house calls to treat the wounds inflicted. The level of care provided has been exemplary by Westport veterinary practise, South Queensferry.
Stevie would like nothing more than to be back at the park chasing and heading his football. This is what he lives for.... and to eat tasty food and treats! What Stevie has endured has now left a once cheeky happy chappy incredibly sad stuck at home all day on the vets orders, complete bed rest.
Stevie's owner who is a pensioner with her own medical issues has had many sleepless nights caring for him as he cries in pain. She has taken the sensible approach in ensuring she has pet insurance however despite the policy being a full cover plan, the fact that recovery may be several months and not weeks has meant this could have a significant financial impact as an excess has to be paid every time there is a new treatment. Stevie's owner has been alerted by the vet the particular policy will not cover the full extent of the treatments he'll receive.
The aim of this appeal is to do a good deed to aid Stevie's road to recovery and to help his owner who through no fault of her own has had to suffer through this ordeal due to another careless dog owner. If you are in a position to help Stevie and his owner they would be immensely appreciative of any support you could give to aid in his recuperation. Thank you for reading. :-)
