First coat of paint going on the outside of The Chequers in early August 2024. The renovation is going well and we still hope to be in for a drink before the end of the year, but there is a long way to go, especially on the inside. This is a huge project and every bit of support is hugely appreciated to help it on its way!

A very special day back in April when we bought the pub and celebrated putting the "sold" sign up outside! This followed a massive community effort that involved hundreds of people buying shares to enable us to buy the pub. However, the hard work was really only just beginning as The Chequers needs an awful lot of TLC before it can open again. There is a lot of restoration work required, together with investment in new facilities that will will allow it to trade successfully once again.

As we launch our share offer, we are raising our crowdfunding target again to cover anticipated costs of further professional advice to support our negotiations to purchase the pub and the costs of promoting the campaign effectively in the local area, online and in the press. We are also launching a sponsorship/official supporter campaign for businesses that are keen to support us.
