Title: Endurance for a Cause: Support Sarah & Steve’s Marathon Challenge!

Hello, Friends, Family, and Fellow Supporters,

We are Sarah and Steve, and we are embarking on what we anticipate to be one of the most challenging and emotionally charged endeavors of our lives. On 12th May 2024, we will be ‘running’ the Leeds Rob Burrow Marathon. Yes, you read that correctly. While the idea of running 26.2 miles might bring joy to some, for us, it’s a challenge we are choosing to endure rather than enjoy. But we are driven by causes close to our hearts, making every step worth it.

Why We Run: Our marathon is not just a test of endurance; it’s a mission to raise awareness and vital funds for two causes that deeply resonate with us. First, we are running for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research, a cause symbolized by the heroic battle fought by Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow. The second part of our fundraising efforts goes to support the hockey clubs that have been a significant part of our lives, providing us with joy, community, and the spirit of teamwork.

The Emotional Tie: For Steve, a lifelong Leeds Rhinos fan, this marathon holds a special place in his heart. Both he and Rob Burrow share a birthplace in Pontefract, 1982, creating a poignant connection. The number 7, which was Rob’s shirt number at Leeds, symbolizes the essence of our challenge. It’s why we are asking for donations of £7 (or whatever you can give) to honor this legacy and make a meaningful impact.

Our Goal: While some runners aim for time goals, ours is different. Injury has limited our training, but it has not dampened our spirit or determination. Our goal is to cross the finish line, no matter the time, knowing that every step forward is a step towards making a difference.

How You Can Help: By donating £7 or any amount you can afford, you are not only supporting us but also contributing to the fight against MND and supporting grassroots sports. We also encourage you to tag 7 other people in your social media posts to help spread awareness. Every share, every tag, and every donation brings us closer to our goal.

In closing, we ask for your support, not just as donors, but as part of our extended community. Together, we can turn an enduring challenge into an opportunity for change. Let’s make the Leeds Rob Burrow Marathon 2024 a testament to what we can achieve when we unite for a cause.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,

    Sarah & Steve
