This is my son Kadon, at the age of 9 he was diagnosed with russell silver syndrome which is a congenital condition. It is characterized by stunted growth and limb or facial asymmetry. The disorder is caused by very rare genetics defects. If this wasn‘t enough he also has had to inject growth hormone everyday for the last 2 years. Has a family the idea of my son having this condition was really heart-breaking and all i wanted to do was make him better and ended up blaming myself for a long time. Has time went on we got used to it and always accepted him for who he was, but then there came the limp. At first we just thought it was because he had one leg bigger than the other and thought nothing of it. Then the pain came and then the first x-ray showed nothing so they took a blood sample and seen he was low on vitamin d and started him on it to see if it would help. 6 months on and he’s still in pain. So yet another x-ray and this time came the shocking news. My son had perthes disease. At first i was shocked and scared has i didnt know what this meant until the specialist told me. Perthes disease is a rare childhood condition that effects the hip. It occurs when the blood supply to the rounded head of the femur (thighbone) is temporarily disrupted. Without an adequate blood supply, the bone cells die, a process called avascular necrosis. After hearing even more heartbreaking news for him. I his mother who is suppose to protect him could not do nothing yet again. I then just broke down. Even the specialist didnt even know what to do up until his next appointment came after a MRI scan. He has now decided the best thing to do is to break the hip bone and put it back in place. This will be happening on 11th december this year. I would really would be grateful to all who can help to get him a suitable bed before this surgery takes place has at the moment he is in a bunkbed and this isnt suitable for him and his needs and it is becoming increasingly hard to keep lifting him up and down. With your help i can get him a bed he can get himself in and out of and wouldnt need to knock on the wall or shout for help to do simple things like going to the toilet. But with your help we together can make that possible for him so he can at least live his life a little bit more normal with a new bed. I know its not like any of the other stories on here and u might not think u will make a differences, but u will and once we have raised enough i will take pics of my son in his new bed and u will see how proud u have made him feel. My son means so much to me and having this new bed will give him his own independents back.
