As most of you know, I am currently at Edge Hill studying to become a general nurse. As part of my course, I have to complete 3000 hours of unpaid work in different healthcare settings.

I have been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to complete some of these hours in a different country, working full time alongside other healthcare professionals in hospitals and visiting rural communities, which will help me understand the challenges of providing care when resources are scarce. This trip will give me an invaluable insight into healthcare inequalities across the world, with little funds and medical equipment I will face many challenges which will help guide me through the rest of my nursing career.

My chosen destination is Vietnam, here I will be working for 4 weeks helping treat patients with unfamiliar conditions providing much needed medical support. I will also have the chance to learn about Vietnamese traditional medicine and how it’s still used to treat patients.

This experience is going to cost around £3000, which as a student seems impossible, so anything you can donate to help would be greatly appreciated for this once in a lifetime experience which will stay with me forever.
