Story

Last summer Saltergate school was the victim of an arson attack which left the pagoda, that the reception and infant children treasured so much, raised to the ground.

It has since been rebuilt at great cost.

Tonight the arsonists have returned, setting fire to a permanent fixture on the reception classes, breaking into the school, smashing windows and fire lights and causing extensive damage due to the fire, smoke and water residue from our brave firefighters.

I don't want to get into the politics as to who should supply CCTV, but having seen how distressed the Headmistress was this evening and how much her hands are tied, maybe we as a community, could help raise money to buy this much needed CCTV system...

My connection with the school is that both my girls went there (one is still actually there) but also thanks to the generosity of the school, i am able to hold my Magic Hour cycle lessons for children there on a weekend and without the support and kindness of the school, they would not be possible.

I'm there next week, as my thank you to the school, teaching the reception children how to, hopefully, ride a bike for the very first time... and maybe take their minds off their destroyed outside area and classrooms :-(

So if you know of anyone who could help, or you could spare a few quid to help get the school back to normal and SAFE as soon as possible, i for one would be incredibly grateful as am sure the staff and children of Saltergate Infant school would be.

If NYCC decide to supply the school with a much needed CCTV system, then obviously the money we raise could/will be put towards replacing all the fun activities that were destroyed by the fire.

Thanks for reading and here's hoping we can make a difference.
