Hi again, this is Saifon Sanfun year 3! a charity project to support schools in rural Thailand. This year we are going a little further, past the border to Myanmar. We will visit 5 schools,1 medical centre and send things to another 2 schools. The focus is building a classroom for a school in a village very close to where I grew up. The school has only got 2 classroom buildings, one of which has got too old and damaged to be safe to use and could be demolished anytime. Therefore, we have drawn up plans to convert the ground floor of the existing building to be a new classroom.

All the other schools we will visit are fun days, providing lunch and laughter and donating items; essentials such as books (and more books), stationery, sport equipment and desk & chairs. We also believe that we can provide funding for one child to cover living costs for one year – enabling them to go to secondary school.

The school at the border of Thailand / Myanmar is a new forest school in an area where there is currently no school for any of the children unless they travel a difficult 10 miles into the nearest city. Charlie, the kids and me will visit school at the end of July to donate things that they need to be able to start their first term; books, stationery, sports equipment, toys and clothes.

We will also donate outdoor play equipment to a local medical centre so that children who are waiting for their parents or seeing doctors themselves have somewhere to play and something fun to do.

I will again be running the St Albans Half Marathon on Sunday 11th June 2017. This will be my 3rd consecutive year doing this event to run to fund and support schools. This time, I set myself a target to beat my time from last year (2 hrs 22 mins) and if I am not succeeding I will match every donation £ to £ up-to £500 . Even though I barely train at all this is my bet to you for a good cause!
