I've raised £6000 to help pay for Sage's surgery

✨ A community request to support Sage undergo surgery privately to address one of their long-term health conditions ✨
Dear friends, community and kin,
It feels vulnerable asking for help as a disabled person, but as I align closer with my disability justice practice alongside being lucky enough to be part of a beautiful disabled community, I am reminded often how healing and loving it can be to be fully seen in experiences of sickness and vulnerability, as well as the gift of being able to offer, as well as receive care.
Access to healthcare through the NHS continues to be a harmful, depleting and inaccessible experience as a SWANA, working class, non-binary, disabled person, leaving me no other option than to self-fund parts of my care. I know I'm not alone in this experience, as many multiply marginalised disabled people are cultivating mutual aid strategies to survive and support one another.
Without the pull to overshare my medical history, I warmly ask if you might be able to contribute whatever feels affordable to the fund to help me pay to access this surgery which will have a huge positive long-term impact on my daily life whilst living with chronic health conditions.
If contributing financially doesn't feel possible, sharing it with your circle or people who do have the funds to support would mean alot.
The costs will cover the surgery, a follow-up appointment and a small buffer for expenses during my recovery, and whilst off work.
Thank you deeply.
With love,
Sage 💛
