Story

I first became aware of the Education Futures Trust back in 2016 when I became a participant on one of their courses. I was suffering from high levels of anxiety and depression and became very isolated from the world. On the course i gained a wide range of skills from conservation and bushcraft to support in creating my CV. The staff support meant that my confidence was able to grow massivly and helped me to realise i wanted a career in the outdoors.

At the end of the 10 weeks I had realised that I enjoyed being outdoors and that taking the academic path of a-levels did not suit me and that an apprenticeship was a great option for me. I was supported by staff members to apply for an apprenticeship at the Education Futures Trust, a testament to the support they had given to help grow my confidence.

I have now been supporting the work of the Education Futures Trust for 3 years and have seen time and again how they can change the lives of others like myself.

So now I am taking on my biggest challenge to date, Race to the Stones, a 100k ultramarathon along Britains oldest footpath. I’m going to training hard till July to prepare myself for the challenge, in the hope that the money raised will help to support others in the way the Education Futures Trust has helped me.
