Story

I'm raising this money because every child deserves the opportunity to play rugby, stay active, and access education, no matter their background. The foundation provides children with an avenue out of hardship through the power of rugby, giving them access to a better way of life, the opportunity to develop their sporting potential, and access to education.

Ajith has been running the Rugby Player Foundation (RPF) for many years, dedicating himself to supporting children from underprivileged backgrounds in reaching their full sporting potential and accessing better education through rugby. Almost every day of the week, he hosts sessions for boys and girls, either at a local school or on Dehiwala beach, ensuring they have a safe space to train, grow, and thrive.

I had the pleasure of experiencing this first-hand last year, spending six months alongside Ajith, helping to coach and guide the players—not only in the practical aspects of rugby but also in how the sport can be a driving force for their future. I saw firsthand how rugby can inspire confidence, discipline, and ambition in these young athletes, giving them opportunities they never thought possible.

The foundation has a proven track record of success, with children progressing through the age grades to become rugby players, coaches, and even earning scholarships to the top private rugby-playing colleges in Sri Lanka. This initiative is changing lives, and with your support, it can continue to give these children the opportunities they deserve.
