Final Update:
’Thank you so much once again for all your support while Ruby was under veterinarian care. The vet fees have now been paid and thanks to your generosity we were fortunate enough to have a surplus of just over £100. We have put this to good use by making a donation of £150 to Assisi Animal Sanctuary in memory of our beloved Ruby.”
Dear Jennifer, On behalf of all of us here at Assisi Animal Sanctuary, thank you so much for your generous donation of £150.00 - it is very much appreciated. Please be assured that your donation will ensure that all our animals currently at the sanctuary and all those that come into us over the coming weeks and months will receive the best possible care. Our pledge is to always commit whatever time, treatment, love, care and attention required for each and every animal; to meet their welfare needs and make their stay with us the most comfortable and happy it can be until we can find them their forever home. We can only fulfil this promise with support from people like you! Once again Jennifer, thank you so much for your contribution to help ensure our animals will have the best of care.
*No more donations please - we are blown away by everyone's kindness and generosity. Thank you*
🌈 UPDATE: So sorry to say that Ruby didn't make it 💔
We are heartbroken, but very, very grateful to everyone who has helped ease the financial burden by donating towards the vet bills. The staff at Gortlands and the emergency vets at VetsNow (Earlswood) were absolutely amazing with her and in the end she died peacefully.
Ruby is a miniature schnauzer. Shes nearly 9. She is my sister’s dog. Its been a bad few days for her. On 18/4/24 she was diagnosed with a stage 3 heart murmur. On 19/4/24 she started being sick and having diarrhoea (unrelated to heart murmur). On 20/4/24 my sister came downstairs to find blood all over the floor and Ruby very poorly. They were at the vet for 8.30am and Ruby was kept in for a few hours on a drip and given anti sickness meds and pain relief. She barely moved the rest of the day and only peed once. She hasn‘t eaten since Thursday. By Sunday morning she was much, much worse again and was back at the vets as soon as they opened (this was pre-arranged). The vet said that she needed observation and treatment all day and overnight and the best option would be to transfer her to Earlswood for emergency care. There has been no improvement and the vet team are doing scans and blood transfusions and everything in their power to save her. My sister has pet insurance which will cover some of the treatment but its going to run into the thousands and her policy won’t cover everything.
If you could spare any money at all we’d be extremely grateful as it would ease the financial burden on my sister at this time. We cannot thank all the vets who’ve cared for Ruby enough 🩷🐕🦺

8 months agoSadly Ruby developed sepsis and we had a call from the vet to say she had passed away peacefully. She was on strong pain medication so she didn’t suffer and we all got to say goodbye. RIP Ruby. 💔🐕🦺🌈 Thank you all for your amazing generosity and well wishes, we are all so grateful.
